Family Friendly This is a wide flat and level trail with numerous benches for children to stop and rest at. My grandchildren ages 3 and 5 stopped at two of them for a rest.

Need to Know

Trash your trash. Be sure to take any food and trash with you when you leave to minimize the impact on wildlife and to keep the area beautiful for all users.

Leave what you find behind. Leave plants, rocks, and other items as you find them so others can enjoy them, too!

Description

The loop trail can be accessed at three points, but only two have parking. The end of Hardwicke Lane has room for 3-4 cars and the end of Lobo lane has a massive parking lot at the Cottonwood Sports Complex. The western tail follows the edge of the lake and consists of a wide mowed grass trail. The eastern loop is mostly in juniper scrub which can be muddy and wet for a few days after a rain. The far eastern end of the loop breaks out into large open mowed meadow with access to and a view of Lewisville Lake.

Flora & Fauna

While the Cottonwood Park contains many of its namesake trees, this trail is mostly in scrub juniper. Song birds are plentiful in the forest and waterfowl are plentiful on the lake edges.
