Description

Tan Oak Access Trail provides access from a parking area, large picnic area, and the east end of Tan Oak Campground, to the Mt. Madonna County Parks trail system at a signed trail junction with Tan Oak Trail, close to the trail's midpoint.

The Tan Oak Access Trail trailhead is vehicle accessible. It is found just past the gate at the entrance to Tan Oak Campground, on the right/north side of the road. This trailhead is unmarked. Look for a nice singletrack path into the woods to hike Tan Oak Access Trail. The trail is basically flat as it goes through the mixed redwood forest to find Tan Oak Trail.

Tan Oak Access Trail runs behind the large picnic area where it started for almost its entire length. Picnic tables can occasionally be seen through the trees to the right. Shortly after the last picnic table, Tan Oak Trail is reached. Tan Oak Access Trail ends here.

Flora & Fauna
