Self supported long-distance hike. You'll NOT encounter anywhere for supplies and logging roads that you cross are only lightly traveled.
Description
The route was maintained several years ago but has fallen into disuse, I think. It begins in a clearcut near Joe Rich and ends near Vernon. Almost all the time, the route is either signed with pink and black permanent signage or flagged with pink and black flagging tape. Route finding is required in spots and GPS is very valuable where the route is no longer visible due to downed trees, weed growth, etc. For the most part, creek crossings are maintained with basic bridges remaining intact.
Thru-hikers can enjoy solitary evenings at The Grand View as well as multiple camping sites (unofficial but legal) along the way. Unfortunately, good sites are a function of available water...and mosquitoes are a function of water too! Bring bug spray and/or a tent with good screens, especially before late summer.
Water can be a problem but there are multiple spots to refill until at least late July when some sources tend to dry up. After that place carefully where you'll obtain your next water refill.
