Coming off either the Jeep Trail Connector or Heisley Valley Road at the Reservoir, there is an access road on the East side that connects these two trails. Technically it would appear they do not encourage foot travel on this road, but it's the only way to complete this route. This is part of the water source for Williamsport so please just pass through...no swimming, no fishing, do not approach any part of the shoreline.

Overview

Starting from the Williamsport Water Authority (WWA) parking lot, travel up a combination of double and singletrack trails and access roads for a combination deep woods solitude and beauty.

Need to Know

Parking at the WWA requires every visitor to sign in. This is their watershed and they want to ensure its integrity and know who is recreating in the area. Dawn to dusk access, you can read their regulations here: wmwa-wsa.org/watershed/

Description

Starting up Bluebird trail, this singletrack trail slowly climbs from the WWA lot through a beautiful stand of hardwoods and pines, passing the foundation of long-since-gone buildings as a reminder of days past.

The trail becomes a thin, raised route once passed these structures as it approaches the doubletrack Remington Access Road. This access road is essentially a remote doubletrack trail that takes you further into the Watershed.

Follow the road to where Heisley Valley Road approaches from the left and then follow up this route. This is a very easy road/trail to hike or run. Deep woods, quiet...very nice.

You'll come to a junction at approximately three miles where you can either continue on Heisley Valley Road or turn right onto Culbertson Trail which will then join Jeep Trail Connector. Up to you which direction you travel around the reservoir. Culbertson Trail and Jeep Trail Connector are both singletrack and very hikable, there are some slightly rocky sections so trail running just requires a moderated pace and picking up your feet. These are wonderful trails for classic Pennsylvania hardwood forests.

NOTE: please respect the signs to not enter the woods that immediately surrounds the reservoir as this is part of the Williamsport water source.

Flora & Fauna

Good birding opportunites, classic PA hardwoods.

History & Background

On Heisley Valley Road, you'll see remnants of old damns. Along Bluebird, you'll see the remaining foundations of old structures.
