Family Friendly Hiking around the Craters of the Moon with your family feels like you have journeyed to the moon and earth is a distant place. This unique and wonderful area is a prime memory-making adventure to go!

Description

The hike is mostly level trail that crosses ashen plains, quite overgrown, along the east edge of a large pahoehoe flow.

At least eight tree molds were formed when life trees were enclosed by flowing lava and later rotted and blew away leaving voids. This trail is how you get to see the tree molds in person. Is it worth it, you be the judge.
