Restrooms available at the parking lot. Campsites are also available here. A state parks and forest pass is required for entrance to all areas of Black River State Forest

This is a moderately trafficked doubletrack loop trail that encircles Castle Mound. The trails seems to have been made for cross country skiing, as there are many steep inclines and declines that make the trail challenging.

This starts and ends at the parking lot for Castle Mound with an option to to take a 0.5 mile detour up to the top of Castle Mound where there is a small observation deck with great views of the Driftless Area.
