Follow this route, through the shade of cool, dry pines, linking up Forest Army Way, Potato Patch, South Hayden Pk, and Hualapai Pk trails to reach the highest point in Mohave County.

Hualapai Mountain park is managed by Mohave county. Access to the trailhead for this route requires the payment for day use. Plenty of camping (and cabins) are available to rent for an additional fee.

After entering Hualapai Mountain park, drive to the end of Levi Levi Camp Rd, past rental cabins and campsites, to the trailhead. There is a $10 fee for entering the park. Begin this route by following Forest Army Way for 0.96 miles to the junction with the Potato Patch Loop trails.

Next, hike around Aspen peak on East Potato Patch Loop trail. In 1.15 miles you'll come to an intersection with a large map. Hike downhill on South Hayden Peak Drive past larger pines and aspen for a little less than a mile.

When you meet the Hualapai Peak Trail, you'll begin the final climb to the summit. The trail is steeper and the footing looser through this section.
At the base of the peak you are faced with several routes to the summit.

If you move clockwise around the summit you'll find a fun class 4 scramble to the top. If you trend counter clockwise around the summit block you'll find a use trail that will lead you up a Class 3 route to the summit.

Return the way you came or by any of the other great trails in this park.

Oak, pines and wildflowers line the trail. I saw deer, elk and squirrels on my visit.

This peak is named after the Hualapai Native American tribe. Hualapai means "people of the tall pines".
