Need to Know

There are no facitilities at the trailhead but a small parking area just past the trailhead sign. Not far down the road from the Turkey Canyon trailhead is the Argentina Canyon Trail (#39) which has a pit toilet.

Description

The trail takes you up through about 1,700ft elevation gain. The lower section is not as steep and you pass by one cave and a few open meadow areas. The upper half of the hike is more steep and you'll go through a few nice areas dominated by Oaks with a number of songbirds.

You may also notice a few birds of prey and some ungulates along the way. Trail is narrower near the top but the middle section is wide with a relatively easy to hike path. The trail is open to horses so at spots the trail is less nice due to horse activity. You do cross the creek a few times so sections of the path may be wet during certain times of year. The trail gets only moderate use compared to the Argentina Canyon Trail (#39) but you can turn it into a nice loop by hiking the Crest Trail (#25) to the Argentina Canyon Trail or The Clearwater to the Crest Trail (#25) .

Flora & Fauna

A number of different songbirds were seen along the route, along with birds of prey (owls and hawks). I saw sign of ungulate use. There were also a number of different wildflowers along the route and I am sure they vary depending on time of year.
