Need to Know
Access to the West Gold Fork Creek Trailhead is via Forest Road 4323- This is a steep and rocky route, and it is not recommended to attempt reaching the trailhead without all-wheel drive.
Description
This trail traverses through a swath of recuperating land from an old burn, which provides for some great views of the rolling landscape of the northeast Rattlesnake Wilderness area along the way, and ends at a pristine backcountry lake. Take the Boulder Point Trail just above the lake for an incredible birds-eye view! This trail also links up to #518 which can be taken to the Gold Creek Trailhead or on to #336 to Fly Lake. Be prepared to cross a couple of creeks!
Flora & Fauna
Various species of birds, Ponderosa pines, ground squirrels, chipmunks, and other small mammals. This is black bear, mountain lion, and Grizzly territory—be aware and carry bear spray!
