Overview
With iconic views and stunning trail, this trek follows the gorge carved by the Vikos River.
Description
This trail can be done either as a one-way (be sure to arrange for transportation at the end) or as an out-and-back. The trek is fairly straightforward and once down in the gorge, not too difficult. Starting from Monodendri, you'll enter the gorge. The trail gets steep as you near the bottom of the gorge but ladders and ropes will assist your descent.
Once down, you'll follow the Vikos River along the bottom of the gorge. The way is mostly downhill as you trek along the icey blue waters of the river. There are many great stops and views along the way. Keep in mind the last mile or so, you'll have to climb back out of the gorge. up to Vikos. Remember, if you're doing this as a one-way, to arrange for transportation to collect you at the other end as there are no busses back to Monodendri.
