Overview

This trek is not for the faint of heart. It is a long way out into the depths of Chugach State Park and will feel pretty remote.

Description

The hike starts out easy enough, you'll even be going downhill on the Wolverine Bowl for the first mile! However, once you turn on to Middle Fork Loop Trail you'll begin the start of almost nine miles of steady climbing. Luckily the grade isn't so bad. Continue on the Middle Fork Loop Trail until you reach the junction with Williwaw Lakes Trail. This trail parallels the Middle Fork Campbell Creek up through the Ballpark.

You'll reach the first of several lakes about 7.5 miles into the hike and they just keep coming the higher you climb. On your way back take the Ballpark Trail to O'Malley Peak Trail. As you head down, you can head up any number of side trails to nab a summit or two including O'Malley Peak, False Peak or Little O'Malley Peak. Once back into the valley you'll head up the Powerline Pass Trail for about a mile. From there the South Fork Rim Trail will take you all the way back down to your car.
