“This trail winds around the camping grounds at Wellington Lake.
”
Family Friendly
Great introduction to singletrack for the kids!
The lake is owned by the City of Wellington and they require a day pass or yearly pass for trail use. Permits can be obtained at the City Administration Building, the Lake Maintenance Building or at one of two permit drop-boxes located at the Lake Maintenance Building and near the east restroom.
Description
Chuckwagon travels by the campgrounds and some of the typical party sites. It also offers views of the lake and you can watch some really pretty sunsets from this location. Once again, the trail is not directional so be aware of oncoming hikers and bikers.
This trail has an interesting tree section that seems out of place in Kansas; there's about 100 ft of trail that's covered by pine needles from 70 ft tall trees!
