Need to Know

Park entrance fee of $7 for Indiana residents and $10 for non-residents. Cell service along ridges of trail.

Description

Park at campground lot, hike theTree Lane Loop (toward the campground entrance station) to Day Camp (horse trailer parking lot), right to follow the sign to Timber Line trail on top of the ridge, take a right at the top and Dry Fork Loop is a few hundred feet on the left, marked by a large sign. Once on the trail, take the first right to start the Loop, then lefts till returning to Loop start. Lots of ups and downs, trail well maintained, switch backs on steepest part, used by horses but never saw horses or other hikers on the Loop. Crosses creeks several times, dry creeks and trail but would be wet and muddy in rainy season.

Flora & Fauna

Oak climax forest with maples, beech, walnut, tulip poplars, etc. mixed in. Since it was Fall following a very hot, dry summer not much flowering. A few snakes and squirrels and deer and coyote tracks on the trail but not much wildlife. Fortunately few bugs but recommend DEET spray in the woods anyway.
