Need to Know
The south end of the trail is inside the Stone Quarry Art Park, for which there is a $5 entrance fee. There is no fee at the northern trailhead on Chenango Street.
Description
This trail is part of the Link Trail portion of the NCT. The trail starts from a well-maintained parking lot on the east side of Chenango Street. The first mile is fairly flat, with long sections of boardwalks over the boggiest sections, running first east along the edge of the South Village neighborhood and then south through a strip of walnut and maple trees between two fields.
From there, the trail climbs more steeply up the side of Stone Quarry Hill. At the top, one comes to a T junction with one of the Art Park trails; keep right, following the blue markings of the Link Trail and the starburst logo of the North Country Trail. Several art installations can be found along this section of trail, and near the end there are views of farms and hills to the southwest. The trail terminates at the Stone Quarry Art Park parking lot.
