Short loop through a forested area in Addis Ababa, away from cars.

Brittany Young

Features Views

The campus is only accessible through a guarded gate. You must have an appointment on the campus or are staying on their grounds for research/conference/etc.

Description

It's difficult finding a hiking spot in Addis, where pollution is heavy, cars are dangerous, and the elevation can leave those unadapted utterly out of breath. This is a short, flat, paved route within a research campus which houses multiple research institutions. The campus is forested with little traffic.

f you have access to this space, which is unfortunately only open to people visiting the campus for research or professional events, you may enjoy a brief hike with fresh air and few cars. Addis is full of hikers who can recommend public hiking spaces and a growing number of indoor gyms.

Flora & Fauna

Indigenous trees.
