Trail begins anywhere in Gomismta, mostly follows the jeep track up to Lake Chinchao. Trail is generally quite easy to follow, and if you're turning, it's still usually quite clear where you are heading.

Hike is entirely above the treeline and can be quite warm in the summer, but is perfect in spring or fall.

Views from the top include most of the high peaks of the Caucasus Mountains and much of Western Georgia, if it is a clear day. The lake is often above the level of the clouds, making for a fantastic sunrise.

Campsite by the lake is very quiet -- we had it to ourselves -- and there is a clear spring just beside the lake, which makes a good water source.

Lots of alpine flowers and bird life. Shockingly few bugs, all things considered. There were occasional cows.
