Description

Took the right trail toward the Observation Point at the loop junction. The point, about 1 mile in, provides an unobstructed view of the valley and mountains beyond.

Soon after this, we came to a natural bridge that could be crossed as part of the trail. At 1.4 miles, we came to a sign that the trail from that point was still under construction. The trail here narrowed considerably and was not blazed, but it was fairly easy to follow except where we had to climb over rocks.

It would be harder to follow in the fall with more fallen leaves everywhere. This part had large granite cliffs on the left side and on the other side either a view of a deep tree-filled ravine, or a cliff with glimpses of far mountains through the trees. The part under construction ended at mile 2. At mile 2.5 was another observation point with another beautiful view.

Flora & Fauna

We heard lots of birds and saw a baby raccoon climbing a tree. Had some summer wildflowers.
