Family Friendly One of the shortest and easiest hikes to a beautiful lake in the Trinity Alps, with good camping and fishing.

Accessible from late June to October.

Need to Know

This is a very popular family trail, so expect crowds. No bathroom at trailhead. Trailhead is accessible with 2-wheel-drive vehicles via an 11-mile gravel road out of Coffee Creek.

Description

The Little Boulder Lake Trail departs from the Boulder Lake Trail #8W20 and travels 1.5 miles up to Little Boulder Lake at 6,400 feet elevation, with excellent views of the Coffee Creek watershed and Mount Shasta. The alpine lake has a few campsites with views of the spectacular granite headwall and fishing, and serves as a good alternative to camping at the more popular Big Boulder Lake.

Flora & Fauna

Old-growth firs and pines, manzanita, tobacco brush, gooseberry, birds, fish, bears.
