Description

Most of the trails around Iguazu Falls are high traffic boardwalks near the falls themselves. This trail provides the opportunity to visit the surrounding jungle in a more intimate/ natural environment.

From the back of the bus station, the first 0.25 miles heads through an open field to finally make its way across the road and into the jungle.

Hike slowly to search for animals along the way.

After a couple of miles, the trail finally splits in two as you come to the falls; one way to the top of the falls the other to the bottom. There's no protective fence to keep folks from slipping over the falls so be careful. Enjoy the falls then head back from where you came.

Flora & Fauna

White-bearded manakin, toco toucan, a troupe of brown capuchin monkeys, coati mundi lizards, iguanas, lots of butterflies and finally the solitary timamou bird (Macuco), for which the trail is named.
