This boardwalk nature trail will take your family through wetlands.
Need to Know
This area is managed by the BLM so a NW Forest Pass doesn't work, but other multi-agency passes will. Otherwise, you can buy a day pass.
This trail forms an accessible loop with the paved beginning of the Boulder Ridge Trail #783A
. If you begin on this trail right after the bridge over the Salmon River, you'll come to a spur to a Cattail Marsh
which offers some nice bird viewing options and a beaver house.
Farther along, you'll come to a shorter spur to a Beaver Dam
and information on how beavers create the wetlands. The next spur leads to the Ghost Forest
. The following stretch of the boardwalk passes through lush skunk cabbage which blooms in early spring. Finally, a last spur heads to the stream in which you can watch salmon during the right season.
