Description

This trail starts in an upland forest, but creek crossing may be necessary in wet weather. This naturally surfaced trail is blazed in orange. In the spring, several small waterfalls cascade down the rock walls to Stallion Branch which also form ice cascades in the winter. Thick areas of snow trillium and other woodland plants hug the slopes of the trail along with a diverse group of ferns. Find the bluff tops which provide the views up and down the Des Moines River. Previously, this area was home to the Sac and Fox tribes through the early part of the 19th Century.
