Access to the upper (southern) end of this trail is at an unsigned junction with FR 2030 immediately north of Wrangle Campground. There is no sign at this trailhead. This campground is easily accessible from FR 20. The trail's lower (northern) terminus is at Cinnabar Gap which is accessible from Little Applegate Road via a maze of forest roads. The upper trailhead is usually closed by snow between November and May.

Description

This is an old trail that once connected Wrangle Camp with the Little Applegate Valley. Its utility faded when that connection was made with what is now Forest Road 2030. It's primary users now are cattle in the summer (the big meadows above and below Jack Flat are historic cattle grazing areas) and hunters in the Fall. Two miles or so of it were burned by the 2001 Quartz Gulch Fire and then again by the 2018 Hendrix Fire. The badly burned sections were not restored. Overall, it has not been maintained for many years, is hard to follow in places, and some sections are old road (but not shown as such on current maps).
