Family Friendly Sandisfield State Forest has a maintained picnic and swimming area.

Need to Know

There is a State of Massachusetts use fee to use the picnic/swimming area.

Description

Park at the beach parking area or along York Lake Road. The blue-blazed trail can be found at the north end of the picnic/beach area and travels through the woods above the lake and over many streams leading into the lake. At the junction with a woods road look for the arrow signs to find the trail on the other side of the main tributary of the lake. Follow the trail south through the woods to the causeway at the south end of York Lake.

There are no interpretive signs, but if you would like to know of about the area, bring along a copy of this self-guided tour.

Flora & Fauna

The diverse habitats (forest and wetlands) and the large forested area around the trail makes this a great bird watching hike.
