This gravel forest road runs from a small parking area on the B317 road to almost the Feldsee (lake). There are rocky cliffs and small waterfalls on the far side of the lake. Directly behind the Feldsee is the Feldberg (mountain), which at 1493 m (4898 ft) is the highest point in the Schwarzwald (Black Forest).

The road passes through a protected area of dense forest and there are some shorter steep sections.
