Description

The first 4.5 miles to Park Lake is through thick brush from waist height to overhead. You can easily make out the trail path, but often cannot see the ground. There were lots of bugs on the way up, mostly flies, and then TONS of mosquitoes at the lake. Worst I have ever experienced. The trail climbs steadily until 4.5 miles, when it steepens significantly with the last mile straight up to the ridge top.

That said, once you're up top, the views are well worth the effort. Just a mile from Park Lake, you can look out over miles of peaks and lakes in the Wilderness Area. Glacier and Spectacle Lake are with a short distance, as is the PCT. I strongly recommend one day in, one to explore, and one day out.
