Overview
Starting from the lower parking area, this hike features a steep initial climb and then miles of rolling singletrack. It is a great trail for beginner hikers looking to add some miles. Hikers will enjoy breathtaking views from all sides of the mountain.
Need to Know
Restrooms are located in the Bogus Basin Lodge.
Description
Park in the lower parking lot. From the parking area, head up the dirt road to the right of the lodge. This will intersect with
Deer Point Trail. Follow the trail up the mountain.
When you reach the
Around the Mountain, take a left to stay on
Deer Point Trail. Take
Deer Point Trail until you come to
Shindig. Follow
Shindig for a few feet until
Brewers Byway is on your right. Take
Brewers Byway which will lead to above the upper lodge.
At this point you should see two roads leading south. Take the lower road, which starts as a singletrack and eventually becomes
Around the Mountain. Just stay on
Around the Mountain for miles. The views will be amazing here. The trail is pretty even with banked sides created for mountain bikes. It's fun to take the turns wide.
Eventually, you'll come again to the intersection with
Deer Point Trail. Go right on
Deer Point Trail until you come to
Shindig again. This time you'll take
Shindig all the way to the bottom.
There are a couple streams you cross along the way that are always flowing, but I always bring about 1 liter of water. You can fill up at the Bogus Basin Lodge if it is open. Bathrooms are located at the lodge also.
The entire path is pretty even. There are occasional rocks to look out for and bridges to cross.
Flora & Fauna
Tall pine trees. Lots of chipmunks. Have yet to run into any other wildlife.
