Need to Know

Restrooms are located at the park entrances at the start of this trail and a little further past the end of this trail at the Upper Park Entrance.

If you park inside the park there is an $8 per car fee.

You can hike into the park for free. Park across Route 13 at the Home Depot and follow the sidewalks South towards the park. There was an old pedestrian overpass that crosses Route 13, but it's currently closed and doesn't look like it will be open again anytime soon. There are no crosswalks, so be careful crossing at the Buttermilk Falls Rd.

Description

From the parking lot, you follow signs for the trailhead. It's a pretty steep and continuous climb that mixes stairs and steep hill climbs. If the trail is wet the leaves and roots can be a little slick.

Once reaching the top of the falls, you can head down the lower path where this trail joins up with the Gorge Trail once you cross over a little bridge. However, the trail continues on along a higher path which takes you to the Upper Park Entrance. There is an access road that parallels this path pretty closely and at times they combine into one trail.

Flora & Fauna

Plenty of squirrels and chipmunks. Nice fall plant life.
