Description

Looking for epic views without the epic busyness of the Roaring Fork Valley? The Ruedi Overlook Trail offers solitude, a great workout, and awe-inspiring views of both Ruedi Reservoir and the northern Sawatch Mountain Range. Located just a 20 minute drive from downtown Basalt, the trailhead sits perched above the west shore of Ruedi Reservoir. The trail immediately climbs through aspen groves and conifer stands and reaches a balcony-like overlook after 2 miles of ascending. If you're needing a longer workout and even better views of the high peaks to the east, continue up the trail past Red Hill for as long as you desire. The trail eventually crests the ridge of Red Table Mountain nearly 4,000' vertical feet and 8.5 miles from the trailhead.
