As of 9/25, there is a large blowdown of trees obscuring the trail shortly after Windy Lake.

Description

Depart from the Melakwa Lake Trail #1011 at the obvious junction at the northwest end of Lower Tuscohatchie Lake. The trail winds downhill through the forest until you reach the Pratt River (about 0.5 miles). Take extreme care at the river crossing as the rocks are VERY slippery and the river is deep in some portions. The river is also a great place to filter water to refill your water bottles.

After the river crossing, the trail maintains a steep uphill grade as it cuts large switchbacks on the ridge. The trail can be narrow in places, so watch your footing.

You'll reach the crest of the hill at about 2.4 miles before descending into Windy Lake, a beautiful alpine lake which is perfect for a lunch and swim.

Continue on the trail for another 0.5 miles, and you'll reach the larger Lake Kaleetan.
