Big Cedar Road is a dirt road that is in pretty good condition and should be accessible to any vehicle with a little clearance. Some sections have a bit of growth in the middle of the road, but there aren't any serious obstacles to access this area. From the Big Cedar Road, a spur road goes up Cave Canyon. Most vehicles will have difficulty with this road—it is narrow and rough—so you'll probably want to park at the junction of Big Cedar Road and the Cave Canyon Road, and hike to the Left Cave Canyon trailhead.

The trail begins by branching off the Cave Canyon Road, which is more of an ATV track. There is a sign that marks the beginning of the Left Cave Canyon Trail at a small creek crossing. The stream lasts through parts of summer because it is spring fed. In the spring it probably flows pretty well, but by mid-summer, it is a shallow trickle.

The trail immediately climbs one hill, the top of which has spurs that lead to nearby summits with nice views. The canyon is full of hawks and vultures. Bighorn sheep also thrive in the area, but they are very elusive. At the top of the first hill, the trail drops a bit before climbing the second high point of the trail, which offers a few views. The trail then descends to Big Cottonwood Creek, which is a lovely year-round stream with a lot of vegetation.

You might encounter some dirt bikes or ATVs, but it isn't a very popular area.

Sagebrush, rye grass, deer, bighorn sheep, hawks, vultures, elk and moose live in this area.
