Need to Know

The trails have very little shade other than that under the overpasses, so bring plenty of water and sunblock! There is a low water crossing on this leg, which is an easy, wide concrete track, but if it is wet may be slippery so use caution. Easy step into the river so mind your kids and dogs!

Description

Delga to Riverside South is a super wide easy concrete path, so you could walk, bike, skate, or push a stroller with no problems. Most of the path has nice river views. There's a little bit of a slope to get to the low water crossing, but it's nothing major and is smooth concrete. Partway along this track is Greenway Park. There is a water fountain at Delga Trailhead, including a low bowl for dogs. Riverside South Trailhead is just trail access with no facilities, but it's right across a street from another trailhead that has them.

The Trinity Trails system is over 70 miles of trails connecting multiple neighborhoods and parks, encompassing trailheads, water fountains, low water crossings, kayak launches, equestrian, and gravel trail segments.

Flora & Fauna

The Trinity River is full of life! All kinds of birds including great white and blue herons, cattle egrets, scissortail flycatchers, and other songbirds. Fishermen frequent the low water crossing here, so egrets are always waiting to grab a snack. The river itself hosts freshwater mussels, turtles, fish, and beavers. Wildflowers bloom consistently through from spring to fall, so there are always bees and dragonflies and damselflies.
