This trail is a bit hotter than a lot of the trails at this altitude. There is not as much vegetation to shield you from the sun. You start out in heavy forest but soon the trees mostly disappear and you are hiking up hard pack earth. There is a small stream that the trail follows. The Honeycomb Cliffs at the top are spectacular. There are also a couple of old mines along the trail.
