Family Friendly Enjoy a creek hike in a wooded canyon with lots of small rocks, roots, old dams to scramble over, bugs, and the occasional fish to look at.

Need to Know

Treking poles will help with any creek hiking. Although there are no water fountains on the trail and the creek itself is not potable, water fountains are available in nearby Dimond Park.

Description

The trailhead starts at El Centro. It's an easy hike along a graded dirt path into the woods. The trail narrows significantly before disappearing at points by the old WPA dam. Hop along rocks in the creek (in the dry season) to find the trail again beneath the Leimert Bridge. The trail disappears again past the bridge even in the dry season, but again it's relatively easy to either wade or hop on the rocks.
