The Lemei Lake Trail #179 runs parallel to the Pacific Crest Trail in the heart of the Indian Heaven Wilderness. The trail takes you near and through open meadows and past Lemei Lake. It can be a less-crowded alternative to the PCT and is useful for forming loop hikes and backpacks in the wilderness.

The #179 begins at its junction with the Indian Heaven Trail #33 near Clear Lake, descends to the south past Lemei Lake, then makes a short climb over a broad ridge, and then begins a gradual descent to its end at the Pacific Crest near Junction Lake. Along the way, it passes some large meadows that are alive with wildflowers in early summer and afire with color in the fall.
