Description

This trail is not intermediate. A decent portion of the trail is a narrow "footpath" along mountainsides of free-falling scree. We stopped at the Trinity river at about the half way mark because the trail actually peters out and we couldn't see where it picked up again on the other side. Beautiful views, very little signs of human activity, definitely cougar country.

South fork trail impassable (fallen trees, overgrown shrubs). Shorter trail between surprise/ coon creeks accessible. Leads to good landing for camp.

From north end to the river. Saw trail on other side, where to ford? https://valhikes.blogspot.com/2020/04/south-fork-trail-on-trinity-river.html

You can only go about half way along this if you don't want to get wet crossing the south. 3mi
