Bring water—this road can get quite warm in the summer.
Park at the bottom parking lot and hike up the road. When Bill Reilly Trail
breaks off to the left, stay right to start up this road (the GPS track on the Hiking Project mobile app
will keep you going the right way). From there, just follow the fire road for about three miles. About 3.4 miles along, the road makes a U-turn and San Gabriel Peak Trail ducks off to the left. To reach the summit, follow San Gabriel Peak Trail. The fire road continues up to Mount Disappointment—the local antenna station.
Bring a piece of paper and a pen so you can leave your wishes in the box on top of San Gabrielino Peak!
Deer, squirrels, and birds can be found here.
