Description

This is a loop trail that passes through the woods and weaves across some rolling granite hills. The trail starts from the southern junction of Lake Trail and crosses the highway. Use caution when crossing the road! Immediately after the crossing, the trail splits; head right of follow the trail as mapped.

The trail winds through the open forest; there are a couple of steep hills, but overall it is quite easy. Along the trail there are some nice views of the surrounding hill country and some nice sections of exposed granite and boulder piles. There are also a few wet weather trickles to hop over and a few sections of the trail had standing water on them, but they were easy to navigate around.

Around 1.9 miles, the trail passes the intersection with the connecting trail that leads to Pecan Flats Trail. It continues on before ending at the initial split. Turn right to head back to Lake Trail.

Flora & Fauna

Ash juniper, cactus, oaks, pecans. Evidence of armadillo hunting for grubs; deer and rabbits are probable
