The track starts at the Sunshine Bay Beach and parallels the shoreline. The first third of a mile, you mostly hike through beech forest on the lakeshore, then the track ascends (a somewhat steep grade) offering great views of Lake Wakatipu and Queenstown. After a mile, the trail descends again to the lake level and follows the rocky beach until you reach the end of the track.
