Trail shared by Warren Collier

The gateway to Chino Hills State Park's northwestern area.

Warren Collier

Features Views · Wildflowers · Wildlife

Chino Hills State Park will close after a quarter inch of rain and durning red flag warnings.

Description

Lilac Trail begins at the top of Olinda Village where Lilac Lane ends. Ample unrestricted parking on neighborhood streets will give you free access to Chino Hills State Park's northern section, but please be respectful of the neighborhood.

Overall this trail is an ordinary gravel service road in good condition that ends at the intersection with Tower Trail. Halfway to the top is the intersection with La Vida Trail off to the right which takes you north into Sonome Canyon. You'll come to the end of the trail between 4 radio towers along the eastside of Olinda-Alpha Landfill. Those looking for more distance can continue south along the Tower Trail to the Chino Hill State Park Discovery Center.

Flora & Fauna

Coyotes and deer are occasionally seen along the trail. There are few birds because of the lack of trees. Durning the spring wildflowers will bloom along the flat sections of the trail.
