Description

This trail makes a big climb past some beautiful alpine lakes to a high ridge and the Gold Valley OHV trail. It is rocky terrain, so be prepared for some tougher sections.

Early on, you'll face a climb up some large steps. The trail then intersects the Smith Lake Trail to the left, another one worth doing which connects you with the Mt. Elwell Trail.

Continuing straight, you'll pass Grass Lake on the right. The next junction will be with the Jamison Lake Trail (11E13A). Stay right and continue climbing toward the ridge. You'll pass a connector trail on your left and will soon pass Wades Lake down to the left.

At the next intersection with the Mt. Washington Trail, keep left along the ridge and make a short climb to intersect the Gold Valley OHV road.

Going left will eventually take you down past the Boy Scout Camp at Hawley Lake to Pauley Creek OHV Trail (11E03). Taking a right will allow you to make a loop on fire roads by descending the Johnsonville McCrea Rd. But the most fun option is to descend back the way you came on the singletrack.
