Due to the nature of the soil and the ridge top location, the Laurel Mountain Trail System should be avoided after it has recently rained.

Description
As mapped, the trail starts from Burma Trail, just east of the parking. Gradual downhill to east with a few more challenging rocky sections. Westbound uphill leg follows old logging railroad grade though evergreens.
It crosses Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail 2x (Yellow blazes). The segment west of the road starts with rocky section leading to a short climb to the plateau and connection to Towhee Trail.
