Beginning at the Expert sign just off the Black Bear connection to Laurel Summit Road, the trail rolls along a generally level route. It includes one required boulder obstacle.

One rocky section follows before reaching the Rocky Gap Trail intersection where the trail becomes nearly continuous rocks to Locust Camp Road. An unsigned intersection to the right along this last segment is an extension of Beam Run Trail.
