Description

The central section of Black Bear starts from a sometimes difficult to spot location along Rector-Eddie Road (J.E. Miller Road) and extends northward to a point where it dumps out on Laurel Summit Road. The northern section of Black Bear, signed as Expert branches off to the left just before reaching the road. The easiest north-south connection requires bypassing Black Bear Trail North and using approximately 0.4 mile of Laurel Summit Road (open) to Locust Camp Road (gated).

The central section consists of level singletrack with a few rounded embedded boulders. A light rocky section is located near the intersection with Hemlock Trail and the Black Bear Trail West.
