Description

This trail is accessed using FS Road 653 going through Rammage Meadows north of Sage Hen Reservoir. The trail climbs through heavy forest cover and ends at the West Mountain Trail. At the top of the trail you can see the FAA radar dome. From the ridge, there are excellent views of the Council Valley and the Wallowas.

Near the top of the trail you can take a cross country trek of about half-mile to the small Gabe's Bathtub Lake. The Bathtub is a remote spot, but the shallow water is mostly filled with abundant lily pads and other vegetation.

At times, a lot of cows can be grazing in the area so beware of faint trails when in the open meadows. This trail is currently only cleared every three years by the FS, but the Idaho Youth Conservation Corps and the Back Country Horsemen are working to keep it cut out more often.
