Description

Use this road to climb your way up to either Mill Creek Trail or the higher elevation Basalt Mountain Trail. The road is open to motor vehicles, so shuttling is an option.

You'll find some great views of Spring Park Reservoir on the lower slopes of this road, but otherwise you'll be climbing in scrub oak, aspen forest, and finally dark timber forest. Towards the top, the massive boulder scree fields of Basalt Mountain start to present themselves, but the road remains mostly smooth with just some rutting at the top. As typical for mountain road climbs, it seems to get ever steeper as you finally approach the Basalt Mountain Trail.
