This is a very popular equestrian staging area that gets wiped out by June. It gets loose, soft and dusty, making it not as fun to hike. Best time for this trail is Oct. - May.

Description

The whole loop is delineated with red arrows on signpost and various junction markers. It's hard to miss, but easy to lose the trail. So either have a good map, or download the Hiking Project mobile app.

This a good loop to add to other local trails. It consists of singletrack, some narrow, but mostly wide, and a few sections that are pretty much dirt road.

It's a fun family/beginner trail that gets a bit more into the forest and off the beaten path so it feels a bit more adventurous with little risk of getting lost.

This trail can be done either direction and can be added into loops with other trails. This info describes going clockwise off of Pioneer Trail. As you approach from Pioneer in either direction, you'll come to a big parking area right next to HWY 20 about 0.2 miles west of Conservation Rd. There is a kiosk sign with a map of the Dascombe area trails.

You can pick up the loop from a couple spots behind the kiosk. Drop in and go right until you reach the equestrian staging/parking area. Slip through a slot in the tree log boundary and keep going. The trail is wide and smooth for next mile or so. Keep right at all these intersections, as you cruise downhill. At 1.12 miles, go left and follow some narrow singletrack (going straight here hooks you up to Conservation Rd. and the Pfeiffer Trail).

When you reach a clearing where there is a doubletrack, make a right and stay on the trail and start climbing a bit. After 1.26 miles you cross over Rock Creek Rd and there is a tricky right turn where it is hard to see the RED arrow. At this point the trail widens again. At 1.72 there is an unmarked left turn. You'll know you made the wrong turn when in a few feet you realize your in the Conservation camp and the trail ends.

At 1.82 you're on the service road under the power lines again. At 2.2 you cross back over Rock Creek Rd. and begin singletrack again. After that is the best singletrack section. At 2.68 you pop out of the trees and go right. From here there are several confusing, but mostly marked, intersections. At mile 3.45 you intersect and overlap Harmony Trail for about a tenth of a mile then a sharp left to get back on Dascombe Trail. From here you can hear HWY 20 and to the right is where you started.
