This trail passes two Spanish missions: Mission San Juan and Mission Espada. Trail features old aquaducts used at the time the missions were inhabited and have been maintained by the city's mission preservation project. Along the river, there are birds species that feed in the grasses and river's edge: egrets, grey heron, hawks, and others.

pecan trees, natural grasses, cat tail, bluebonnets (seasonal) and other wild flowers.
