Description

This trail starts at the end of Yukon's Lunch Trail. Another unmarked trail can be seen coming up from a clearing below. The trail curves its way around the nose of a spur and then enters a spruce grove on a nice sidehill cut.

The trail continues on the sidehill but soon after you see an old trail drop off to your left (which leads to a campsite off of Mutton Hollow Rd.) the roots start to get more pronounced, making the climb a little more challenging. Finally, you'll break into the deciduous trees again, just as the grade gets a little steeper. After a creek crossing, one last push leads you off, with even a little downhill to the crossing at Mutton Hollow Rd.

After you cross the road, the climbing starts again after a brief level bit. You'll pass through a rocky section to get to a particularly scenic creek crossing. Cross the creek and start to double back uphill. After a short steep section the trail levels off in some young growth before a short descent to a former log road at the edge of some spruce. At the end of this grove, the trail starts its last climb up a sidehill to join Big Merlin.
