Description
The trail is clearly marked with blue blazes. There is a wooden foot bridge that crosses the West Fork of Glady Fork, and then the trail crosses the West Fork Rail Trail where it starts to climb Shavers Mountain. At the top of the mountain, the trail crosses the Allegheny Trail (TR701) and goes through some coniferous forest before dropping over the back side of the mountain.
The steeper parts of the trail are quite rocky. At the bottom of the mountain, the trail meets up with, and then follows, an active scenic railroad (Tygart Flyer and Cheat Mountain Salamander). Follow the railroad all the way to the falls. Both trains stop at the falls, so it can get busy for a few minutes at a time. There is some good trout fishing below the falls.
