Description

This trail provides a long ridge hike through hardwood forests and a few small clearings. The trail follows an old logging route and is relatively non technical, though fairly long from start to finish.

The beginning of the trail till near Spring Ridge is relatively flat, grassy, and muddy. As you reach Spring Ridge Trail (TR561) the trail becomes more defined as singletrack and begins to drop in grade. About 8 miles in the trail becomes downhill for the majority.

Having a shuttle from Spring Ridge Trail (TR561) or Horton Trail (TR530) to the end of the Allegheny Mountain Trail will provide a good hike, as returning to your vehicle makes for a long and strenuous addition.
